Deutsch 4/AP Course Description
The Deutsch IV/AP language course covers the equivalent of a third year college course in advanced German composition and conversation. It stresses oral and aural skills, reading comprehension, composition and grammar and is centered around six overarching themes:
· Global Challenges / Globalisierung · Science and Technology / Naturwissenschaft und Technologie · Contemporary Life / Alltag · Personal and Public Identities / Persönliche und Öffentliche Identität · Families and Communities / Familie und Gemeinschaft · Beauty and Aesthetics / Schönheit und Ästhetik The goal of the Deutsch IV/AP course is to develop these communicative and cultural skills relating to the German language. German 5 AP students will continue their development of German language skills and prepare for the German AP Examination at the end of the school year and to prepare for further study of the German language at the college and university level. Deutsch IV/AP is a combined course. As such, the curriculum will rotate each year to ensure a comprehensive learning experience for all students in both levels. As the AP testing period draws closer, the curricula in the IV and AP classes will diverge so that students in Deutsch 5 AP can prepare for the AP German Language and Culture test. |
